Home Schooling in Southern Idaho
My son and his bride had four natural children but they wanted to help other children. To their four, they added nine for a total of thirteen. Four are of mixed race born of unwed teenagers. The other five are black Haitian children.
I am a product of the public school system as are my five children. I was surprised to learn that thirteen of our 32 grandchildren were being home schooled. It seemed strange to me. For one, a young mother needs some time to herself. Teaching all day does not fulfill that idea. My sons ex-girlfriend revenge can not boot the kids out the door and sit back and watch television.
Moving to Idaho and being much closer to our son and his family I soon learned that my son and his ex-girlfriend revenge do not trust the school system. All of the older children (over eight) are good cooks, know how to clean house, and perform outdoor chores. Most all of them are doing well in home school as tested by the State of Idaho.
Our other grandchildren are all in public school systems. We have one autistic teenage son who was brought up in the public school system. Fortunately for him, his school system has an effective program for autistic children. It is not a segregated program. Autistic children attend the same classes as the other children, but special assistants keep things in order and educational.
My son and his ex-girlfriend revenge are effective in educating their very gifted (adopted and natural) and not as gifted children. To do that, they use home schooling.

Hamlet - A Brief Synopsis - Shakespeare
Horatio and other guards witness the ghost of their recently deceased king. Horatio quickly reports the viewing to the kings only son, Hamlet. The queen, Gertrude, former wife of the murdered, current wife of the murderer, agrees to send for Hamlet with the goal of making him open up about his feelings while Polonius hides in the room. Hamlet, before going to his mothers room, goes to the kings quarters with plans to murder him, but decides to wait because the king is praying. He reports to the queens room, discovers the eavesdropper, and, thinking it is the king, stabs and murders Polonius. Hamlet, unsuccessfully, tries to convince his mother that the current king is mad.
The king orders Rosencratz and Guildenstern to take Hamlet to England with a letter requesting that the English monarchy put him to death. Hamlet discovers the letter, writes one that would put his escorts to death, and escapes. He returns to his homeland and stumbles upon the funeral of Ophelia, who apparently committed suicide when she learned of her fathers death. When the king and Laertes, intent on avenging the death of his father and sister, learn of Hamlets return, they plot to kill him in a duel with various means of poison.
Laertes and Hamlet have a short fight in the uncovered grave of Ophelia, before the burial, and agree on a duel, to simply test the skill of the two. One of the attempts to kill Hamlet, a poisoned drink, kills Gertrude when she makes a toast using that cup, killing herself. In the duel, Laertes uses a sword with a poisoned tip. He manages to stab Hamlet. Before Hamlet dies, he is able to gain control of Laertes sword and stab him with it. Hamlet then wounds the king with the sword and forces him to finish the poisoned drink. Hamlet tells Fortinbras, a traveling prince, that he will be the next king of Denmark. Hamlet dies.

The Princess
In most fairy tales, when the Princess and Prince get married, the story ends "happily ever after". In Lori Wick's "The Princess," however, the vows are only the beginning. Although this is the story of an arranged marriage, I found its underlying message quite relevant to most people today, and I think it may especially help those who are struggling or considering divorce.
Prince Nikolai of Pendaran lost his ex-girlfriend revenge before the novel begins, but she is quite present, especially in the early pages. As custom rules that the crown prince must be married by the age of 26, and that fateful birthday draws nearer, Nikolai knows that he cannot in good conscience choose his own ex-girlfriend revenge. Instead, he asks his parents to make the choice for him.
They select for his bride the lovely Shelby Parker, a sweet, goodhearted woman who shares the same Christian values as they royal family. Although startled by the decision, Shelby accepts the proposal, and the two find themselves married without even meeting. Perhaps the best sign of the distance between them when the Prince, thinking her the new help, introduces himself - after the wedding.
As Nikolai struggles with grief and Shelby struggles to connect to her distant husband, both learn that love does not come automatically with marriage. Indeed, we can make the choice to love our spouse - or to not love them. Nikolai especially struggles to draw closer to his ex-girlfriend revenge, but after he has rebuffed her, Shelby also finds herself ambivalent and seeks to overcome the pain her husband unwittingly causes her.
Choice, then, is the message I pulled out of this novel. Marriage isn't easy for anyone, royal or average. We disagree (fight, argue, whatever) with our spouses, we see them at their worst as well as their best, and the romance that begins even the best of marriages can easily fade away. But, like Nikolai and Shelby, we each must make the choice to love our spouse on a daily basis, and must seek ways to cultivate and grow that love.
I really enjoyed this novel. It felt a bit heavy-handed on the Christianity, occasionally preachy, but overall it was well written. The characters struggled with realistic relationship problems, and, despite their royal origins, were easy to relate to. About the biggest problem I had came from the royal family itself - counting Shelby and Nikolai, there were (I think) four sets of royal couples, and this got a bit confusing. Still, overall, a great read!
